In creating Gordon Philanthropies, Inc. (GP), I was guided by a sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the opportunities I have enjoyed in my life, gratitude for the gifts that I have been given and for the rewards that I have earned. It is not possible, though, to be grateful without recognizing those who have not shared the same access to opportunities that I have enjoyed. Gordon Philanthropies, Inc. was established by Daniel Gordon with the mission to support educational programs aimed at improving the lives of people living in under-served and underprivileged communities. GPI advances this mission through a combination of financial support to organizations and through initiatives we have developed in furtherance of our mission.

Celebrating at Century Park

Gordon Philanthropies celebrated women’s history month at Century Park Elementary School with Dr. Loretta Johnson-Smith.  As an inspiration to girls of color, Dr. Johnson-Smith’s book, First Black Girl: Black Women who Opened the Door for Black Girls highlights sixteen past and present; relentless and radiant; bold and Black women, who trail blazed their way through entertainment, education, sports, science, politics, and art.
