Our literacy program supports a family-based reading model that reduces the barriers to reading for children and educates parents and caregivers about their role in reading development.
Further, children’s literacy activities are directly related to their intrinsic motivation to read, which is powerfully affected by factors in their home environment, such as having books in their homes, observing their parents reading (either to themselves or out loud to others) for pleasure, and having parents who express a love of reading.
